Levolor makes various types of window treatments such as horizontal and vertical blinds. When these blinds begin to wear out, there parts may need to be replaced.

Repairing Levolor blinds can be an easy do it yourself project. It just takes a few tools and a little effort to complete this project.

Replacing the Vane on Vertical Levolor Blinds

Take a vane out of vertical blinds by placing a thin object such as a thick piece of paper up against the vane where the hook is. This should pop the vane out of place. Pull the vane out of the hook. Replace the vane by placing a piece of string in the vane stem. Pop the stem back into the carrier and pull the rotation chain. Grab both ends of the string and tug down and snap the vane back into place.

Repairing the Cord on Levolor Blinds

Shortening the cord on a vertical Levolor blind involves finding the cord in the head rail and pulling it out through the cord safety device until it reaches the appropriate length. Secure a large knot at this point. Make sure the blinds work correctly. Cut the knot with scissors below the knot.

Fixing the Chain

Make control chain easier to operate by taking off the control end cap. The nut around the metal rod may be too tight. Gently bump the rod with a screw driver. This should fix the problem and help the control chain to operate better.

Fix gaps on Butting Blinds

Reduce gaps between adjacent vertical blinds. Peer inside the head rail and find half circle white tubes. Pry the tubes off with a flat screwdriver. Removing the vane wil push the vane towards the edge and will help eliminate gaps.

Repairing Horizontal Levolor Blinds that Will Not Lift

Pull down on bottom rail to reactivate spring if blinds will not lift. This will reset the spring if it locked up after being in the same position for a prolonged period of time.

Make Blinds Easier to Operate

Find the friction clips inside the head rail near the spring motor to help the blinds operate easier. Take out the clips and raise and lower the blinds again. This should fix the problem.

Fix Noisy Blinds

Correct noisy shades by a small plastic piece into a long metal rod in the head rail. When the plastic part moves out of place, it causes the rod to hit the head rail. This should fix the problem.

Repair Blinds that Will Not Lower

Place the blind in the window to test if the blind will lower. Pull the lift cord down, which should release the cord lock. Remove the binds and push in the pin with a flat screwdriver. The pin is located in the cord lock in the head rail and the cords run through it. This should correct the problem.

Replace Tilt Wand on Blinds

Unhook the blinds from the window to replace a tilt wand. Remove the wand from the wand tilt. Take off the metal cap from the end of the head rail. Pull the tilt rod from the tilter. Snap the new tilter in place. Make sure the blinds operate correctly.
